Emergent returns for early career disabled artists, delivered in partnership with Tate St Ives and The Borlase Smart John Wells Trust (Porthmeor Studios) for 2027. Shape Arts will support one awarded artist and a cohort of shortlisted artists.
Who can apply
- 18+, usually based in the UK
- Living or working in Cornwall, Devon or Somerset (proof of address required if selected)
- In the first five years of your career
- Not in full-time education
- Self-identify as disabled (any term you use is fine; the point is that you face disabling barriers)
- Have not been shortlisted in previous Emergent years
What you get
- One-week residency in Cornwall, 18–24 January 2027
- Opportunity to host a creative event for young people at Tate St Ives
- Remote mentoring from Shape Arts
- £3,000 bursary
